Rácskert
The Vegan Garden in the Rácskert courtyard on Dob utca closed its doors mid-March, like many other eateries in the city, but they soon re-opened as an open-air grocery and market. The market proved to be an immediate success, as many traditional gardening shops were closed, and it was difficult to travel to distant parts of the city safely to buy necessary materials. The market has been selling everything from herbs and houseplants, to pet food, cat litter, ice cream, spices, potting soil, beer and many other plant-based goods. Now that the restrictions are lifting, the street-food venues which made the Vegan Market so iconic are also able to reopen.

PANCS Gasztroplacc
During the quarantine, the popular PANCS Gasztroplacc was only available through online ordering. Now, beginning tomorrow, Tuesday 26 May, the market will be reopening, with its signature community table where locally-sourced ingredients are thrown together and cooked for those gathered. The online website continues to operate, with nearly 600 products available.

Zugló Bread Community
Enjoy local produce including milk, meats, bread, eggs, beer, organic honey – even traditional sausages and seasonal vegetables – at the Zugló Bread Community. Every Thursday from 5-7pm, this shopping community aims to supply local residents with healthy, natural food. Fresh meat products must be pre-ordered, as vendors will only slaughter the animals specifically requested. Zugló was hit hard by the coronavirus restrictions, but has been able to maintain delivery options. Now, an additional rule is in place: 15 minutes before the official start time, those over 65 will be allowed to come and shop.

Római part Market
Since the spring of 2017, this Saturday morning market has been a staple of District III. The atmosphere is friendly and family-oriented, with shoppers and vendors often knowing each other by name, and a playground nearby for the little ones. The market sells vegetables, berries, goats' and cows' cheeses, pork goods, sausages, bread, creams, syrups, jams, eggs, chicken and many other goods. From 9am until noon, only those 65 and older are allowed to come in and shop, but other than that, the market is welcoming everyone as usual until 2pm.

Czakó Piacz
Located at the top of Tabán in the Czakó courtyard, this well-established market sells vegetables and fruit, cheeses, meats, cold-pressed oils, flowers, sauces, jams, honey and much more. The market is open Saturdays and Sundays, but some vendors only operate one of the two days, so it’s advisable to check the Facebook page for accurate information. There is also a pre-ordering service in place for the meat products (Mátra Buffalo Reserve, Dabasi Chicken, A Kövér Tanya, A Dániel Tanya).

Mom biopiac
The certified organic label is a difficult one to obtain, so the MOM bio market stands out as a reliable purveyor for all things healthy. Goods here are a little more expensive than at other markets, but it comes with the peace of mind that everything purchased comes from a controlled, organic farm. All types of food are available in the market, but like other places, only those over the age of 65 may enter between 7.30-9am.
