However, in this article we are not focusing on exported products, but on beloved Budapest establishments that have expanded with new locations internationally. Berlin: Szimpla Kaffehaus & Badehaus

Szimpla Kert’s success story has already expanded quite fruitfully, as the prominent pioneer of ruin pubs first branched out to another Hungarian location in the town of Vác, and then launched two bars in Berlin: a craft-beer bar hidden in a coffeehouse, and a musical entertainment and meeting point, both located in the Friedrichshain district that constantly bustles with young people. At the Kaffeehause, we don’t get weird looks if we order , and it is only natural that the drink list features Unicum and . Many Hungarians who live in Berlin regularly stop in for something “homey” here.

The Hague: Budapest Bagel

was the first in town to make the classic rolls with a whole in the middle. The brand behind this beloved New York delicacy is now also found in The Netherlands, more precisely in The Hague. Even though they do not have their own shop, they offer the tasty bagels at a specialty café, and their sandwiches are just as high-quality and just as satisfying in The Hague as they are in Budapest.

TG Italiano

TG Italiano on downtown Pest’s October 6 Street is already a renowned Italian restaurant, and another unit of this hip dining destination recently opened in Los Angeles, too. The owners are known to commute between the Hungarian capital and the U.S.A. regularly, so this choice is not so surprising. Perhaps both the cuisine and the interior of this illustrious eatery will soon steal the heart of superstars in central Los Angeles

Gerbeaud Bistro

The venerable Gerbeaud café at central Pest’s is an ever-popular destination for international travelers seeking high-quality Hungarian cakes and sweets, including many Asian visitors – but since 2009, they can enjoy the same delights closer to home by visiting the Tokyo branch of this classic confectionery. In the Land of the Rising Sun, the café features a terrace overlooking ultramodern skyscrapers, creating a fascinating juxtaposition with the European-style interior.

Vienna: Steamboo

Győző Szabó and Gyuri Tatár’s Steamboo does not serve sushi, but a new steamed treat that we can now not only try on Hold Street and at the but in Vienna as well, as a tiny street-food bar is found in the Austrian capital. The steamed-rice bites are truly popular, and they are paired with Hungarian craft beers and soft drinks; the steamboos can be washed down with Gyömbír and Hedon beers in Vienna, too.
