Summer is all about having fun – you should just relax and have some ice-cream, a pint of ice-cold beer and some lángos and you should enjoy the sunny weather as well while you’re in a swimming pool. So what are you waiting for? Just grab your stuff and hit one of Budapest’s spas or public pools! Palatinus, Dagály, Széchenyi, Paskál - check all of them, you won’t regret it!

Palatinus
If you are still young at heart – or what’s more, slightly childish – or if you actually happen to have your own kids Palatinus is the best place for you! Besides the different kinds of ‘theme pools’ there is one pool that is more than special. It’s a unique, one of a kind pool in which you can actually do some surfing. There are no other places in Central-Europe that offer the same opportunity. If you are younger than 20, you can learn from real surfers on the weekends and develop your own surfing skills. If this is still not enough or if it’s not something you’re looking for than you’ll have plenty of other fun stuff to choose from. You can ride a rodeo bull (not a living one obviously), there is a mini-golf court, there are different sorts of 3D games and you can also try Carisma, which is a traditional Basques game.

Dagály
If you tried all the fun stuff at Palatinus you should check Dagály as well. There’s a basketball, a streetball and volleyball court so don’t forget your balls at home. While you play don’t let the heat get to you! Cool yourself down and try the whirlpools, the bubble baths, the sprinklers and the different kinds of showers. You can also just simply enjoy the waves and the sunshine so you can feel like you’re underneath the palm trees.

Széchenyi
Listen to what the hippos of the Budapest Zoo have to say to you and choose Szecska! The pool of the hippos is actually filled with the thermal water of Széchenyi spa, also known as the Szecska by many, so they know what they’re talking about. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of thermal water for you as well. The hippos can’t try the water aerobic, they can’t enjoy a good Thai massage, there’s no pedicure and no cosmetic treatment for them but you can try all these things for sure. If you have health issues such as joint problems you should also go to Széchenyi spa and after getting your aches taken care of by medical treatments you should attend a crazy Szecska-party. For eight weeks, on Saturdays night you can enjoy these gigs and get into the groove while listening to different genres of music week after week.

Paskál
Let some steam out or maybe let some steam in if you wish to! This year Paskál has introduced its new saunas that will satisfy the needs of the steam lovers, but the kids will find their own fun as well. What’s more kids can learn to swim and scuba-dive as Paskál offers a training camp for them during the summer where they can learn the basics.

Római
We don’t have much to say about Római, everyone knows that it’s a legendary place, and it’s a legendary place for a very good reason. The bath was originally built in Roman times and back in the days it was a holy, sacred spot. We would say that it still has its cultic feel to it even nowadays. The main swimming pool was transformed into a beach paradise with slides, showers and bubble baths, and there is also a separate area for kids where they can have a great time.
