Ylla (Kamilla Koffler) devoted herself entirely to animal portraiture at a time when no one had yet thought to specialise in animal photography. Driven by her deep connection with animals, she instinctively bonded with her subjects, capturing traits that were distinctly human in nature. In doing so, she created a new genre of animal photography, one focused on expression and personality. Her anthropomorphic approach felt natural, highlighting the underlying universality that connects the dignity of both human and animal nature. One thing is for sure: since Ylla, we’ve seen animals in a whole new light. Catch it at Mai Manó House until 6 April, and feel free to bring your pup along!
