For the past 15 years, the Hungarian National Gallery has welcomed visitors to its much-loved Wine Wednesdays series, returning this summer on 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 July. This year's programme is built around the theme of colour, bringing together art, wine and live music through guided exhibition tours, wine tastings, jazz performances and classical concerts. Wines will be provided by acclaimed Hungarian wineries including Légli Winery, Laposa Estate, Tornai Winery, Grand Tokaj and Pannonhalma Archabbey Winery, while the musical line-up features artists such as Dániel Szabó, the István Gyárfás Trio, Károly Gáspár and Gábor Cseke.
The series opens on 1 July with Azure Blue Wine Wednesday, an evening inspired by the Mediterranean way of life and the carefree spirit of an Italian summer. Much of the programme centres on the exhibition Dolce Vita: The Italian Experience in Two Centuries of Hungarian Art, complemented by live music and wine tastings that capture the atmosphere of long evenings by the sea. Visitors can also join a special guided tour led by curator Adrienn Prágai and painter Attila Kondor, exploring how Italy has shaped artistic journeys and creative inspiration over the centuries. One of the evening's highlights is Italy as Muse, a special performance featuring literary historian Anna Juhász, singer Giorgio Fekete and actor Renátó Olasz, who bring together literature, music and storytelling inspired by Italian culture and landscapes.
