One of Mozart's early operas, the singspiel: The Abduction from the Seraglio captures the story of two young lovers, Belmonte and Constanze fighting to escape the confines of a serail in Turkey. The work was Mozart's first success and earned him fame among composers of the era. At this premiere in Budapest's beautifully revamped Opera House, you can see the piece staged by actor Miklós H Vecsei, a director of Mozartian youthfulness. The production should show the audience a different perspective, even somewhat irreverent toward operatic tradition thanks to a video projection by the group Glowing Bulbs and a new Hungarian translation by poet Dániel Varró. The opera will be performed in three acts, in Hungarian, with English surtitles.
