If you'd venture even further than the Buda Hills, don't stop until Lake Balaton. Kőröshegyi Lavender Field is an iconic spot for seeing a sea of (yeah, lavender too, but this time of the year:) tulips. Thanks to the mild weather, nearly half a million colourful stems already dot the landscape, while Lake Balaton's blue shimmers below, making it one of the most beautiful views of the south shore. And did we mention that you can actually pick tulips? The field is open from March 29th to April 21st, 9 am-6 pm on weekends and 9 am-5 pm on weekdays. Entry is HUF 1,000 and you can take home tulips for HUF 300/stem (so make sure to bring cash).
