The house that Jack built follows the story of a serial killer in the US of the 1970s and 80s. Jack (Matt Dillon), a ruthless man with superior intelligence, tells us about five of his murders that happened in 12 years, each marking a station on his journey as a killer. His partner in narrating is Verge, or Vergilius (Bruno Ganz), an allusion to the poet in Dante’s Divine Comedy who accompanies the author on his road to hell.

The film is screened in English with Hungarian subtitles.
