The
Russian Cultural Center
presents the premiere show of “
Lolita
”, presented in English, brought to Budapest by
Theater on the Roof. Vladimir
Nabokov’s
renowned and controversial novel – adapted for stage by
Oliver
Micevski
– is a story about the aging Humbert Humbert’s obsessive, devouring, and doomed passion for the nymphet
Dolores
Haze
.
Lolita is also about the collision of hyper- civilized Europe with the cheerful barbarism of postwar
America
, but nevertheless it’s a musing about love. Critics agree that Lolita is one of the most beautiful love stories of the 20th century.
Vladimir Nabokov
was a Russian writer and a butterfly expert. His most famous novel, Lolita, is noted for its dramatic descriptions, experimental style, and carefully structured plots. Nabokov is one of the most highly acclaimed novelists of our time.
