On 29 November,
RAM Colosseum
of Budapest is hosting an extraordinary competition. The technical knowledge, acrobatics and performance art of the competitors will all be presented on a pole. The
Pole Artistic Competition
, an international and independent pole dance competition, will be organized in Hungary for the first time, giving an opportunity to show the artistic and theatrical side of pole dancing.
Pole art
has been present in Hungary since 2008 and while it has previously been associated with night clubs, it is actually based on circus acrobatics, and its artistic value is unquestionable. Through their moves, performers tell stories or act out songs. While they dance on the pole, they act with their faces, poses and gestures - just like other dancers. The competitors, whose number is growing year by year, perform the acrobatic choreographies out wearing decent costumes in theatrical scenery. Today, not only women, but also men can participate in competitions, where both solo dancers, teams or even mixed doubles can compete.
