A pick-your-own apple farm is opening just outside Budapest this Saturday, 14 September. Families are welcome, and there’s a donkey petting zoo for children.

Located on a ten-hectare plot, Törökbálint Almáskert has recently been restored by new owners and is holding this curtain-raising event for the season. Each kilo of picked apples costs 220 forints, with a ten-kilo minimum.

Nestled amid rolling green hills, the orchard is a serene escape from the city 15km away. It produces 12 apple varieties, and visitors are encouraged to sample and discover their favourites. Fresh apple juice is also available for purchase, and the farm hopes to expand into cider production in the future.

Törökbálint Almáskert is attached to Doma Farms, which offers horseback riding. Staff members also speak English and German. The orchard is 25 minutes from Budapest by car, and parking is free.

Following this weekend’s grand opening, the orchard and petting zoo will be open weekdays from 3pm-6pm, and weekends from 9am-5pm.
