Hungary first staged Night of the Zoos in 2012, with eight menageries participating. Encouraged by its success, since then various venues have joined the initiative and this year 12 zoos will open their gates after dark, three in and around Budapest: Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Tropicarium and Budakeszi Wildlife Zoo.
