Given out each year by the
European Parliament
in order to cast a spotlight on the diversity of European cinema, the
LUX Prize
has kicked off its 2015 edition with the official presentation in the European Parliament’s Cultural Committee. The three finalist films deal with current topics such as the
refugee crisis
through the eyes of the migrants (Jonas Carpignano:
Mediterranea
), the lack of social recognition of teachers (Deniz Gamze Ergüven:
Mustang
), and women’s autonomy in strict, custom-fledged communities (Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov:

).
