Over the past few years, several famous conductors have directed the student orchestra of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. Next up is legendary Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, known in Hungary for winning the inaugural International Conducting Competition on Hungarian TV in 1974 and later becoming the leader of the Hungarian State Concert Orchestra. This concert on 7 May features two popular symphonies, Beethoven’s Fifth and Tchaikovsky’s Fourth. Both compositions are associated with fate, Beethoven’s Symphony No 5 one of the most recognised works in the classical music repertoire.
