The memorial exhibition organized to commemorate the
150th anniversary
of
István Csók
’s birth was established to pay homage to the greatness of the artist. More than 60 works are featured in the collection, constituting only a segment of the painter’s extensive oeuvre spanning almost eight decades. The exhibition is built around five thematic sections: scenes painted in the studio, most importantly nudes; genre paintings inspired by folk art; pictures showing objects from Asian cultures; scenes from the ideal home; and idyllic landscapes from the garden,
Lake Balaton
and the
Venetian Lido
.
The exhibition also showcases objects, placed right next to the paintings they are featured in. Futher exhibited items include some of Csók’s personal belongings and furniture, as well as archive photos documenting the artist’s life. Many of his most important works are on display in the permanent exhibitions of public collections. Some of these items will also be featured at the current exhibition, as will paintings, such as
Züzü in front of the mirror
and
Šokac girls with old lady
, that haven’t been seen for decades because they belong to private collections.

The exhibition is open every day except Monday from 10am to 6pm at the
Guard's Palace of Várkert Bazaar
.
