Károly Schmal’s paintings are philosophical, balancing on the border between abstract and figurative art. He deliberately has a minimalist approach, using inexpensive materials. Order and or lack of it have always been one of his primary artistic concerns. This exhibition at the Budapest Gallery presents a selection of Schmal’s latest works. The chaotic, crumpled background base of his paintings and the painted content on them are in sharp contrast, creating a unique tension.
