Socialist Realism, like everywhere else in the region, was inescapable in Poland, the ideological architectural style was incorporated into the cityscape of the manufacturing hub of Łódź. Residential estates born in the spirit of Modernism and Constructivism have faded into nostalgia, despite inadequately designed spaces. In the images of Ilka Olajos, a long-lost world unfolds before the viewer, where the past of the industrial city and the damage caused by World War II are also evident. The exhibition forms part of the Budapest Photo Festival and opens on 8 April. It's then open Mon-Fri 10am-6pm until 28 April.
