1971, USA: it is the hippie era and the time of Richard Nixon’s scandal. Raoul Duke, a sports reporter is assigned to report on a motorcycle race situated in the desert of Nevada. With Dr. Gonzo, his friend and lawyer, they drive to Las Vegas, the capital of gambling. Equipped with all the possible kinds of drugs and alcohol, the two men set on a journey to find the American dream.
