Greek legend Laocoön, Joan of Arc, atomic scientist Oppenheimer, Robert Kennedy and Twiggy somehow met at György Kemény’s exhibition in 1968, held at the Fészek Művészklub. In his exhibited works, Kemény elaborated on artistic, historical and contemporary references to these figures with his exceptional humour and playfulness, applying the characteristics and formal elements of pop art in a virtuoso way. This exhibition was an international showcase for the genre, and also a pioneering event in the Hungarian art scene of the day. The Vintage Gallery now presents selected works from the legendary 1968 exhibition.
