In her exhibition A woman’s body is not a human’s body, painter Enikő Csengey offers a critique of society through depictions of female torsos. On one hand, society objectifies and confines the female body within schematic boundaries; on the other, it gazes at it with voyeuristic enthusiasm. Nudity and suggestive poses become imprints of vulnerability and sexual desire. The powerful, vibrant colors – red, yellow, pink, blue, and green – along with bold brushstrokes, embody the kind of brutality with which, according to the artist, society seeks to exert control over the female body.

The exhibition is free to visit from 10 April to 10 May at the Fashion Street Gallery.
