For the first time, a comprehensive exhibition of El Greco's oeuvre is on show in Budapest, at the Museum of Fine Arts from the end of October. The aim of the exhibition is to provide a broad overview of the oeuvre of one of the most outstanding masters in the history of European art, the Spanish-Cretan El Greco, or Domḗnikos Theotokópoulos, showing the painter's full formal complexity and his great stylistic development in an exhibition of almost seventy works.

This major show will bring to Budapest outstanding works such as Saint Sebastian from the Cathedral of Palencia, The Baptism of Christ from the Prado in Madrid, St Louis, King of France, with a Page from the Louvre in Paris, Christ driving the Traders from the Temple from the National Gallery in London, and the altarpiece of The Resurrection borrowed from the Monastery of Saint Dominic of Silos (the Old) in Toledo, which had never left the city before.
