Creating a genre entirely her own, combining her love of chess with her talent as a musician and songwriter, Juga Di Prima presents her unique show Chess Divas in the elegant setting of the Aria Hotel on Friday, 11 March. Accompanied by her Hungarian pianist, László Lakatos, Budapest resident Juga will be performing a selection of her own original songs related to chess legends, such as Oh Capablanca about the Cuban chess master José Raúl Capablanca, and The Immortal Game, inspired by Adolf Anderssen, who made the first move with black chess pieces in 1851.

At the same time, Juga, a keen player and passionate believer in the universal and egalitarian nature of chess, moves pieces on a giant chessboard to show winning moves by leading women champions. Among the evergreen standards sprinkled throughout the two sets of 50 minutes each, Juga sings the Hungarian favourite, Ha én rózsa volnék, in Hungarian, as a tribute to the Polgár sisters, pioneers of women’s chess.
