Large-scale compositions, crisp tempos, improvisations, lyrical images and no little mischief – with his trio formed in 2011, János Bujdosó explores underground jazz and world music in his own way. The trio's latest album takes them in a more eclectic, harder, darker direction, all to be showcased at the Opus Jazz Club. Their music, characterised as Byzantine surf jazz, combines Hungarian, Middle-Eastern and Latin elements, often built on repetitive musical structures.
