Spread across 800 square meters and multiple exhibition halls, the
Museum of Ethnography
presents a display that includes nearly
300 pairs of shoes
from the 19th and 20th centuries from nations around the world. Unpretentious
bark shoes
, heavy
wooden sandals
, and bulky
reindeer-fur boots
are all part of the spectacular showcase that demonstrates pieces that covered and protected the feet of countless people before the fast-fashion era and the modern days of shopping malls. This temporary showcase is one of the final exhibitions for this building, before the museum moves to a new location.
