In February 2016, at the first exhibition of the
Várfok Project Room
, a promising young talent,
Anna
Ne
m
es (born in 1989, Budapest/H) will exhibit her works. Despite her young age, Nemes – who graduated in 2014 from the Painting Department of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Imre Bukta – has had a number of individual and several group exhibitions.
The main focus of her artistic interest is the human body. While on her earlier paintings disabled people, body builders, her relatives, or animals were presented, on her recent paintings exhibited at the Várfok Project Room her closest friends and family, or even herself and her body also appear – thus, we can see lying nude figures or self-portraits frozen into different grimaces on the walls. The figures are taken out of their surroundings and contexts, thus strengthening the reflexive attitude, delving deeper into the human psyche.
