The unmistakably energetic, colourful and grotesque paintings of Ákos Ezer are unique in Hungary’s emerging art scene of young painters. His new exhibition boom... crash... bang… features his latest works painted in 2018. The centrepiece is the Fallen Man, the concept of falling a recurring theme. In Ezer’s painterly universe, falling is not tragic or mythical, like that of Icarus, but a burlesque-like, humorous slip. His heroes are everyday figures demonstrating ordinary activities such as shaving, staring or smoking.
