The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, or Der Zauberlehrling ballad by Goethe, was the inspiration for Adrián Kupcsik’s exhibition taking place from 8 January until 12 February at the Horizont gallery. In the poem, the wizard’s underling loses control of objects, forgets the right magic spells, and eventually desperately calls upon his master. Kupcsik’s images are made from studio leftovers, mainly relics of pieces of art. The exhibited paintings create visual narratives that are vaguely familiar, but produce rather an inverted sense of déjà vu.
