The musical career of the Phonogram Prize-winning Kerekes Band spans more than 20 years, from Moldavian dance houses to prestigious world music stages. Over these two decades or more, they have created a sound that is unmistakably theirs. The pulse of Moldavian music is complemented by flute riffs and cobza melodies, a kind of ethno funk, derived from traditional shepherd music. On their recently released album Water and their soon-to-be released Fire, they return to an acoustic sound, leaving out the amps, effects and electronics. Now, together with the Dalinda singing trio, they are giving a special performance of complementary a cappella and instrumental sounds.
