A grand home for food and culture
The Corvin Palace, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, provides a truly stunning setting for the city's newest food hall. The venue has been beautifully renovated to honour its heritage while also bringing in a contemporary, stylish design. High ceilings, elegant interiors and carefully curated details make this more than just a dining destination – it's a place where history and modern Budapest meet.
Compared with Time Out Market Lisbon, which has a more industrial, bustling vibe, Budapest's edition feels warmer and more refined. The combination of elegance and comfort makes it a spot where you'll want to linger longer – whether for a quick lunch, an evening out with friends, or a cultural event.
Flavours to remember
Time Out Market Budapest gathers 11 restaurants under one roof, each presenting signature creations that capture their culinary style. During our visit, we sampled a wide variety of plates – from Canteen by Pesti István’s duck rillette and a homely chicken paprikash with dumplings, to Casa Christa’s take on classic sajtos-tejfölös lángos and their smoky roasted carrot with miso and almonds. Bigfish impressed with both a refreshing tuna tartare and golden, beer-battered fish & chips, while Tuning Burger served up bold flavours with their Umami Burger alongside a hearty vegetarian option topped with goat cheese. This was just a taste of the line-up, which also spans Italian pizzas, Middle Eastern bites, modern bistro dishes and Hungarian favourites — all ensuring that no matter your mood, there’s a plate to match.
Wine, art and music
The culinary offering is just one layer of the experience. A dedicated wine bar showcases both hidden gems and prestige bottles from Hungary and beyond, displayed on a striking “Wall of Fame”. Adding to the cultural spirit, the Hungarian Association of Pianists will perform here every Monday, turning wine tastings into an elegant, musical evening.
Contemporary art also plays a big role: colourful murals and installations echo Hungary’s creativity, making the market not just a place to eat, but a place to experience the city’s modern pulse.
A new Budapest hotspot
With its beautiful historic setting, diverse food, curated wine selection, and layers of art and live music, Time Out Market Budapest is more than a food hall – it’s a cultural meeting point where history, gastronomy and creativity come together.
This Saturday, the doors open to the public, and it’s bound to become one of the most vibrant new spots in the city.
