Budapest has proudly landed in fifth place on a new list of top cities for digital nomads, compiled by the largest online community based on the latest trends.

Digital nomads are location-independent workers who leverage technology, needing little more than a passport, laptop, USB cables, and crucially, good-vibe spots to work and unwind. Is Budapest one such place?

The digitalnomadandadog website's author curated a list of the world's 23 best cities for digital nomads, drawing on a large online community, personal experience, and current trends.

Smiles, affordable coffee, and super-fast internet

The ranking considered various factors, most importantly quality of life (livability, weather, transport), affordability, safety, and internet speed.

Lisbon topped the list, long favoured by digital nomads for its climate, hospitality, and vibrant community.

Thailand's Chiang Mai came second, Tallinn took bronze, and only Bangkok surpassed Budapest. The author praises the Hungarian capital as safe, affordable, with exceptionally fast internet, calling it 'one of Europe's most beautiful cities' that digital nomads are increasingly discovering.
