If you're into cool galleries, the Hungarian House of Photography, or Mai Manó House, is a must-visit. It's a hub for Hungarian and international photo exhibitions, showering us with quirky and outstanding displays. And on 1 April, the gallery gets even quirkier by calling for dogs. Not only is the space dog-friendly year-round, but they've also come up with a fun initiative for the day. Bring your pup along, and you'll get free entry to the Ylla: The Birth of Modern Animal Photography exhibition. A perfect fit, don't you think?
A passionate animal photographer
Ylla (Kamilla Koffler) devoted herself entirely to animal portraiture at a time when no one had yet thought to specialise in animal photography. Driven by her deep connection with animals, she instinctively bonded with her subjects, capturing traits that were distinctly human in nature. In doing so, she created a new genre of animal photography, one focused on expression and personality. Her anthropomorphic approach felt natural, highlighting the underlying universality that connects the dignity of both human and animal nature.
One thing is for sure: since Ylla, we’ve seen animals in a whole new light. And Mai Manó House is taking it up a notch by encouraging pet parents not to leave their pups behind, even when enjoying a bit of culture at an art gallery. On 1 April, they're welcoming dogs and their owners (1 adult each) for free between noon and 7 pm.
