Walk through the majestic halls of the Museum of Fine Arts, located on the unmissable Heroes' Square, and you'll find that many art pieces capture the beauty of Mother Nature. Inspired by this, a pretty inner garden has been created right in the museum's Ion Courtyard. Here, you can settle down on stone benches amid herbs, spice plants, fruit trees, and ornamental shrubs, offering a serene escape during your museum visit.
The garden evokes the atmosphere of monastery gardens, which served not only as centres of meditation and prayer but also as homes to many plants used for cooking and healing. Their design often carried symbolic meaning as well, such as quadripartite gardens that referred to the four rivers of paradise and/or the four cardinal directions, with a fountain in the centre providing the water of life.
You can visit the garden every day (apart from Monday) from 10 am to 6 pm, with a valid museum ticket. More details on the exhibitions here.
