Celebrate Budapest's 150th birthday by visiting the new and impressive flowerbed that shapes the capital on Margaret Island!
Did you know that Budapest was born from the merger of three localities called Buda, Pest, and Óbuda? Well, this happened exactly one and a half centuries ago, which means the capital is turning 150 years old this year. This significant anniversary is being celebrated in various ways, one of which is a pretty and colourful flowerbed representing the unity of the city. To admire the 30 types of blooming annual plants, visit the Centenary Memorial at the southern end of Margaret Island (near Margaret Bridge and the musical fountain). You can even stroll among them, as a cobblestone path has also been added, symbolizing the Danube and the city's boundaries.
