The reconstruction of the Lónyay-Hatvany villa with its rich past was recently completed at Buda Castle, and, as we reported at the time, the Aranybástya restaurant opened its doors. Its undisguised intention is for the villa to once again be part of Budapest's vibrant social life, while guests enjoy the magnificent dishes of Attila Áman, the former chef at Big Fish, and the lyrical desserts of confectioner Péter László.
The kitchen at the Aranybástya will be extremely active on Valentine’s Day too, as they are preparing a romantic dinner on 13 and 14 February. In addition to the superb dishes, a stunning panorama will also crown the occasion. Dinner will be bookended by a special dessert, whose flavours and spectacular serving will sweep you off your feet.
Even if you don’t have plans for Valentine’s Day or you’re not spending
it here, it’s still worth visiting the Aranybástya for its cocktails mixed at
the bar on Saturdays, its excellent lunches and afternoon coffee.
When the weather
brightens up at the end of March, the terrace opens and no-one can wait to clink
drinks over the city while enjoying the spring sunshine.
