Named after the famous Hungarian painter Pál Szinyei Merse, a secondary school in Terézváros now starting its 125th academic year has been brightened up by a vast mural of one of the artist’s most iconic works. The five-person team at Neopaint needed two weeks to complete a likeness of the painter’s hot-air balloon, covering a huge firewall by the school.
“During almost 20 years of operation, we have faced many difficult tasks, but perhaps this was the biggest challenge of all,” say the people at Neopaint, responsible for many works around Budapest, such as the one of pianist György Cziffra at Batthyány tér station.
The Szinyei Merse Pál Secondary School can be found on the street of the same name, near Kodály körönd.
