From lion selfies to the coolest mural
All spring, the brand searched for Budapest Faces with
a fun game running on social media. All people needed to do was to take a sunglasses
selfie with a lion. Whether these lions were statues, drawings or stuffed
animals, it didn’t matter, all that was left to the creativity of everyone
taking part.
And now the lucky ones posing with these big cats have been featured
in the city’s latest street art painting as a funny detail wedged into Kata
Kerekes’ graphics for Polaroid Eyewear.
Hungarian artist meets top global brand
Kata Kerekes founded her studio six years ago.
This young talented illustrator, graphic
artist and visual storyteller also works to create brand experiences with her
unique and recognisable style. Now she has joined the very colourful world of
Polaroid Eyewear, bringing her particular vision, her impressions of Budapest,
recognisable visual elements and moods to the already existing visual world of
the brand.
They have created a work of art capable of expressing the hallmarks
of the brand, fun and inclusive, bringing joy and colour to everyday life at
the same time. The painting of 100 square metres contains everything that is
the essence of summer in Budapest, its liberating moments of just letting go.
In addition to the iconic colours of the Polaroid Eyewear brand, Kata has used
Pantone’s chosen colour of the year, Very Peri, combined with a vibrant
turquoise that together makes it playful and lively.
Guided by the fact that colourful street art adds to the atmosphere of the city, Polaroid summed up their approach as the following:
The firewall, which also enlivens the cultural
life of the city centre, not only attracts attention due to the colourful figures
in sunglasses, but also gives the party district a completely new and exciting
street atmosphere.
Painting cleans the air like green space
The realisation and execution of the artist’s
carefully designed graphics is no everyday matter. As Polaroid Eyewear attaches
importance to sustainability and environmentally conscious solutions for the
planet, they decided to use Airlite® paint on the wall surface of 100 square
metres.
This intelligent technology neutralises carbon dioxide and purifies city
air by absorbing harmful substances. It was as if a green area of the same
size had been created on Akácfa utca. The custom-made paint is activated by sunlight
and moisture and, in addition to its air-purifying effect, it can also
disinfect the surface from bacteria, without putting any extra burden on the
environment. All in all, a really attractive innovation!
So head into town and discover the latest work of art in District VII, at Akácfa utca 27. Turning off Rákóczi út, you’ll see the lively wall straight away!
Don’t just look, snap!
