The Spanish celebrate Epiphany on 6 January and no city in Spain is more festive than Valencia, home of paella. This year, Budapest restaurant La Paella has got together with the Spanish Embassy and the Valencia Tourist Office to offer helpings of this classic, traditional rice dish to those in need. The event takes place at noon on 6 January.

According to Spanish tradition, Reyes Magos on 6 January is when the three kings arrive, children are given presents and colourful street parades are held in towns across Spain.

On hand to help out here in Budapest will be the Spanish Consul General and sports reporter András Ágai Kis. La Paella, on the Nagykörút near Oktogon, was opened in 2021 by a former resident of Valencia who prepares this speciality according to age-old tradition, in a huge pan ideal for serving many diners.

This week also marks the reopening of La Paella in 2022 after taking a well-earned rest over the holidays, with the kitchen serving the public from Friday, 7 January.
