Once a major drinking destination in City Park, Kertem has been closed since 2019. Now the good news is that it’s reopening, at a new location at Kőbánya, site of the new Transport Museum and branch of the Opera House at former railworks.
It seems there’s a lot happening at the Northern Vehicle Repair depot in Kőbánya these days. First the Opera House opened its workshop there then, more recently, the Diesel Hall anticipated the future opening of the new Transport Museum with an exhibition of old locomotives and train repair works.
Next to them, somewhat incongruously, will be the new Kertem, hippyish and dog-friendly in its previous iteration, known for its Balkan burgers and eclectic dance music. The exact opening date isn’t yet known but with August soon upon us, it should be soon.
