Festival goers will have to wait until 2022 to enjoy Budapest’s iconic Sziget Festival, as organisers have just announced on Facebook that this year’s event has been cancelled.

We have known for some time now that VOLT, Balaton Sound and FEZEN are all off the table this year, but official word had not yet been released with regards to Sziget. Now the organisers have clarified that Sziget 2021 is a no-go.

We, the organisers of Sziget, believe that it is our common responsibility to work together for the safety of everyone to survive this stressful period,” the management has just announced on Facebook. “For the sake of our performers, staff and attendees, the festival will return in the summer of 2022.”

Tickets purchased for Sziget 2020 will be automatically valid for 2022, and ticket holders will even receive gift credits.
