Polish carrier LOT has just announced that it is reintroducing its popular direct Budapest-New York service from June 2022. The route, suspended due to the pandemic, will operate three times a week, served by Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

LOT Polish Airlines first launched its Budapest-New York direct service in May 2018. Anticipating the potential easing of restrictions and greater vaccination coverage has allowed the carrier to resume full operations to New York’s busiest airport, JFK.

According to Balázs Bogáts, head of airline development at Budapest Airport: “It remains our goal to rebuild long-haul flights from Budapest as soon as possible, also helping to reinvigorate the country’s tourism industry. We are therefore delighted with the decision by LOT Polish Airlines, which will allow passengers to fly to and from New York without changing, after a two-year hiatus”.

Thanks to its design, the twin-engine, wide-bodied Boeing 787 Dreamliner is lighter, uses less fuel and has a longer range. The aircraft completes the Budapest-New York route in just over nine hours.

Tickets can be purchased through LOT and regular travel agents and outlets. Budapest Airport and LOT will do everything possible to safeguard the health of passengers and staff.
