A new outlet of the Moto Pizza mini-chain has just opened on focal Bartók Béla út, after the original venue at the former Wichmann pub in Pest’s nightlife quarter gained a loyal following.
Moto Pizza first appeared on Kazinczy utca a little over a year ago – they were only settling in at this busy location when the virus struck. It was just enough time, however, for many to fall for their simple, fuss-free Neapolitan pizzas.
Guests had been pushing the owners to establish a venue on the Buda side, too, without realising that additional Moto Pizza outlet had already been planned to open across the city.
They saw Bartók Béla út as the perfect spot for the new space, as this
Buda boulevard reminded the owners of the slightly underground, if upscale
Budapest of the 2000s.
The new Moto is much larger than the original
outlet on Kazinczy utca – whose future seems far from assured. Their respective interior designs clearly show
the link between the two outlets, but the new venue is considerably brighter
and sunnier.
Work on the Buda venue began in November 2020, and you can now
have their delicious pizzas delivered or pick up for takeaway.
The offer is the same as on
Kazinczy utca, but they’ve just added three more pizzas to choose from: Carlo
with spicy salami, Cotto with cooked ham and the fiery Cabrese
with ‘nduja, a southern-Italian sausage spread.
With no crowds at present,
a well-maintained Mini Cooper of the type used in the film The Italian Job can be shown off in style. When restrictions are lifted, some 30 guests will be able to
sit down inside, 30-40 on the terrace in the warmer months.
The patio will also allow more emphasis on alcoholic beverages here, with Italian frizzante available on tap. The focus will be on lighter mixed drinks – Aperol spritz, Hugo – well suited for hot summer nights and lazy afternoons. And, of course, pizzas!
