Grégoire Biessy started making movies 15 years ago with his brother. 2017 saw the filmmaker move to Budapest, where his organisation Art in Progress was rebranded Palink’Art, a group of passionate people from all over the world with one common goal: creating films. After producing one short film a year since 2018, the pair are excited to release their first feature film this Saturday, at Kultik Terrasz on the rooftop of the Corvin Plaza.

Lovely Weekend is a comedy based on the French play Pyjama pour six, a story about love affairs, miscommunications and poorly kept secrets. Grégoire translated the script into English, and then adapted the text into a screenplay with the help of Ana Batiri. The film was shot throughout the month of October, with “lots of coffee and pizza!” says Grégoire. “We had only seven people helping – five actors, myself directing and recording sound, and Zoltan Kiss behind the camera.”

“I wanted to make a feature for a long time,” Grégoire says, “and my actors were asking for a comedy this time. Due to Covid, it wasn’t easy to arrange filming in multiple locations, but Pyjama pour six is a one-hour comedy taking place in only one location, with five or six actors, so it was perfect”.

The cast also includes Ana BatiriEva Hoyt, Demetris Constantinou, AnnaMaria Atanaszova and Peter Hajdu

The premiere of Lovely Weekend will take place this Saturday, 3 July on the rooftop of the Corvin Plaza mall at Kultik Terrasz. Admission is 1,000 forints, and a bar on site will be selling beer, soft drinks and popcorn. Find out more information via the Facebook event, or check out Palink’Art’s YouTube account to view the group’s other movies.
