This weekend, a duck-focused food truck operation created by János Deli and Sándor Kerekes proved a hit on its first outing in Budapest. DUCK YOU! has since flown the nest for Lake Tisza, but it should be making regular appearances at events and festivals around the capital this summer.

Hungarians love duck – at least, I certainly do!” This casual thought became the starting point for Sándor Kerekes, chef at the Gléda restaurant in Óbuda, to launch his roadside food truck.

Things were put on ice until the pandemic forced Kerekes into a rethink, and he dusted down his idea to create DUCK YOU!

The ducks from Kiskunhalas rotate side by side on a special oven made in Turkey, the baked sausage is stuffed according to the boys' own recipe, and the rolls and bread come courtesy the renowned Szabi a Pék.

In addition to duck burger strips (HUF 2,500), wraps (HUF 2,200), duck sausage (HUF 2,500), grilled duck (whole HUF 3,900, half HUF 2,000), you can order ratatouille with duck sausage (HUF 2,500).

The grilled goats’ cheese burger (HUF 2,500) offers an alternative for vegetarians, while a dessert of lactose- and gluten-free floating island can bookend the whole experience.

Now flying off in the direction of Lake Tisza, DUCK YOU! should soon be back in the capital this summer – and on a permanent basis from the autumn.
