The organisers of summer’s huge Sziget Festival have announced that the event should still be going ahead as planned this August. The same applies to the VOLT Festival in Sopron scheduled for early July and Balaton Sound, programmed for the week after.

The biggest music festival in the region, Sziget, which occupies half an island just outside Budapest, should still take place this August, say organisers. According to the latest announcement on their Facebook page, Sziget 2020 is still scheduled for its original dates of 5-11 August. The Sziget crew also stressed, though, that if circumstances surrounding the coronavirus epidemic worsen, then ticketholders will be entitled to a full refund.

Yesterday, European football’s governing body UEFA postponed this summer’s major tournament, Euro 2020, due to be co-hosted by Budapest. The event will now take place in June-July 2021 instead.
