The Budapest Festival Orchestra has just been included among the top ten symphony orchestras in the world by Classical Music magazine published by the BBC. In is online edition, the respected publication gives its selection in alphabetical order rather than top to bottom. The BFO are the only Hungarians to make the cut.
BBC’s Classical Music magazine has just published its top ten symphony orchestras in the world – and has chosen the Budapest Festival Orchestra, alongside the Berlin Philharmonic and the LSO.
In its article, the magazine highlights that Iván Fischer is a dynamic leader who doesn’t play by the usual rules, which is why he’s so productive. It also points out that the ensemble plays both contemporary and classics, and even folk music, which gives the musicians tremendous freedom – reflected in the orchestra as a whole.
