From today, 7 July, the Hungarian Parliament is reopening its doors to tourists. Visitors must wear masks or face coverings and observe social distancing. Hand sanitisers will be provided.

The Gothic outline of Parliament is one of Budapest’s most familiar landmarks, dominating an elegant curve of the Danube close to central Pest. This architectural masterpiece was designed when Hungary extended as far as the Adriatic.

Today many of its 691 rooms remain unused but the ornamental grandeur of its staircases, frescoes, half-a-million precious stones and 40 kilograms of gold continues to impress. Parliament is also home to the Holy Crown, the royal sceptre and the orb of the first kings of Hungary.

A guided tour in English lasts around 50 minutes. Tickets (EU citizens 3,200 HUF, non-EU citizens 6,400 HUF) can be purchased by clicking on your preferred calendar date at the bottom of this page.
