Originally a living-room jam between friends, Budapest JazzHouse became an intimate weekly event showcasing jazz talent to locals and tourists alike. This Thursday, 2 July, the series is being revived, moved outdoors to a Buda location revealed to those who reserve a place through the Facebook event page.
“We want to uplift the Budapest jazz community and our guests and friends after these heavy weeks of isolation,” says BJH organiser, Laila. “We need enchantment, we need positivity and we need community.” One way of creating this community is to bring prominent Budapest musicians into an enchanted garden on the Buda side.
Performers being considered include Balázs Elemér, guitarist Zsolt Bende, sax player Soso Lakatos, drummer László Csízi and bassist Marcell Gyányi. The night will start with opening and main acts, and from there it will transform into a jam. One sponsor is the Dubicz Winery, so expect plenty of reds and whites from the Mátra to accompany the music. “It will be a reunion and a celebration to uplift our spirits after these long days of isolation,” says Laila.
