With a sophisticated yet modern interior mingling shades of chocolate and caramel, and a homely and cosy atmosphere filled with soft music that slows your busy life down, everything is provided for a great meal at DNB Budapest, whether you come alone, with friends, a special someone or to discuss a deal with a business partner. And we haven't even mentioned the panorama yet, which is just perfect, overlooking Buda Castle and the hills.
Every day of the week, DNB Budapest offers a two- or three-course Business Lunch deal. The dishes are traditional Hungarian recipes done in 21st century-style, made from seasonal ingredients sourced from within Hungary's borders. The selection changes every fortnight. You can make up your own meal choosing from three starters and a daily soup, four main dishes and three different desserts – and then you can get a glimpse of it all coming together in the open kitchen. Two courses cost 3,300 forints, while a three-course menu sets you back just 4,200 forints. The price includes refreshments as well, such as water, homemade lemonade or a soft drink. Meat-free options are always available, and the chef is happy to make alterations for guests who follow a special diet. The current menu is always uploaded on DNB Budapest's Facebook page.
All dishes at DNB Budapest are a cavalcade of colour, beautifully presented. We have already enjoyed a vivid green-pea risotto, a revamped version of a traditional Hungarian favourite, as well as grilled fogas (zander) fillet with baby fennel, river crayfish and Hungarian white-wine sauce appetisingly presented, with colours and flavours in perfect harmony. Hungarian fish is actually a big favourite among DNB Budapest guests, so there is always a fish option on the menu.
The desserts are heavenly, in our experience, and they really put the icing on the cake. Usually a chocolate-based delight, reimagined pancakes rethought, a cup dessert, a cake or other sweet seductions feature on the menu.
Hungarian wine washes it all down: at DNB Budapest, reds, whites and rosés from each of Hungary’s 22 wine regions feature on the menu, providing an insight into everything the country has to offer when it comes to vino. French champagne completes the selection.
All in all, DNB Budapest is well conceived, friendly and laid-back, yet chic, its prices fair for this kind of quality. So when it comes to lunch time and you crave flawless flavours and an awesome panorama, the DNB it has to be! And in September and October, having a great meal here is also a good deed. As part of the You Eat, We Give initiative, DNB Budapest donates €1 to charity for every lunch and dinner served to guests. The You Eat, We Give promotion is part of Marriott’s Europe-wide “World of Opportunity” project that aims to tackle youth unemployment by donating to partner charities.
