Beyond Burger is a meat-free patty made of pea protein isolate, expeller-pressed canola oil, beetroot and coconut oil, among many other animal-free ingredients. Compared to a traditional meat patty, the production of Beyond Burger requires 90% less water, 93% less land and 40% less energy, which results in altogether 90% fewer harmful emissions.
Vegan Love has grabbed this patty and turned it into a burger. When it comes to the taste, honestly, we could hardly tell that we weren’t eating real meat. True, Vegan Love’s bun, melty vegan cheddar, homemade sauce and onion, salad and tomato enhanced the experience, but if the filling had been off, it wouldn’t have worked. With a price of 2,900 forints, Beyond Burger is certainly a very good option among Budapest’s street-food range.
For now, Beyond Meat’s Burger is only available at Vegan Love and at Magic Burger in Budapest, but if it takes off, the product might make it onto supermarket shelves in a year or two.
