Pulled pork fresh out of the smoker, Catalan burgers and fruity Nutella crêpes all await drop-ins at outdoor Green Platz, located between the Danube-side recreational stretch of the Római embankment and the ruins of Aquincum, a historic Roman site. This newly opened hangout also provides a quality stopover by the main cycle route running through north Buda.

A few minutes from the northern rail bridge connecting Óbuda in District III with the Újpest neighbourhood of Pest, a conglomeration of four street-food vendors has gathered, veterans from the Hungarian festival scene.

Set on former tennis courts, Green Platz Streetfood Bar is Budapest’s newest secret spot for dining and drinking alfresco. Zesty pulled-pork sandwiches come with garlic sour cream, BBQ sauce and pickled cucumbers by the Zabáljcsak team, expert in slow-smoked meat.

Sandwiches by Paneer are filled with gooey deep-fried cheese, local trappista or cheddar. Ingredients jammed into the ciabatta may also include red-onion jam, rocket, onions and steak sauce.

Meatball specialists Kanálgép also offers burgers, including their Mediterranean-style Catalan sandwiches made with a juicy patty, ham, tomato sauce and mixed vegetables.

CrepeZilla is responsible for the desserts, their hit pancakes filled with just the right amount of Nutella, strawberry and bananas. Savoury crêpes are also available.

Guests can soon enjoy their craft beer, fröccs spritzers or lemonade from deckchairs that Green Platz plans to install here in the upcoming weeks. In a little park area being set up, a refreshment point for cyclists and summer concerts are also in the pipeline. Business hours will be extended to stay open at weekends.
